Kayak fanboys beware

All you people who believe Kayak.com / airninja.com works in your benefit in all conditions beware. They have a small trick up their sleeve. True, Kayak.com will find you the cheapest flight available, just not the cheapest fare on that flight.

This is the result of a search on kayak. The first result is what I'm interested in. Clicking on the $128 or the cheaptickets.com link will take you to cheaptickets. Your total will be $128.28 and you're all happy about it being 72 cents less than what you thought it would be. Amazing Kayak again.

But what if you're one of those who believe that $6 cappuccino is daylight robbery and that environment isn't something you buy? Then you go to AA.com and try to find why a link to AA.com to book this and several other (peak / evening hour / weekend) flights do not link to AA.com. You think, maybe these aren't listed there. The doubter in you (also the jobless wonder) takes 5 mins to go over to AA.com to check. And what happens?

Behold, beyond kayak, here's a $124.30 fare. Is this sacrilege or what!!

PS : I don't know who planned this or who decided it must be so. It might be Kayak, or cheaptickets, or AA.com or someone else, or maybe no one at all. The author does not claim anything to the contrary.
